SwapCircles is a hyperlocal, in-community recirculation program currently offered free of cost to participating school communities. The goal is simple:
Enable families to easily give forward outgrown items and discover what they need next — right within their own trusted communities. A Swap is not a donation — it’s a gift.
What is a SwapCircle?
A SwapCircle is a private, community-only sharing space where families (join by invite) can post, browse, and exchange gently used clothing, winter wear, costumes, sports gear, and accessories. Instead of letting perfectly good items sit in storage boxes, we help recirculate them locally to families who can use them next. It’s convenient, safe, and designed to make reuse natural and simple.

Why this recirculation program?
Families often have exactly what another one needs.
SwapCircles helps unlock that value in a structured, supportive way. It reduces clutter at home, saves a lot of money, and makes it easier for us to keep up with fast-growing kids and ever changing needs.
With SwapCircles we can run a series of zero-waste, family-friendly, socials throughout the year:
- Seasonal Swaps (winter wear, ski gear, party wear)
- Special Occassion Swaps (Halloween, Diwali, Chinese New Year, recitals etc.)
- Themed Swaps (sports gear, baby gear)
Events are simple: bring what you can, take what you need.
Enabling everyday sharing
Sharing goes beyond an event. Families can use the SwapCircles app to keep the swap culture going all year-round. The app enables you to:
- Post items you’re ready to pass along.
- Browse the community inventory.
- Claim what you like.
- Connect and schedule the transfer.
Our SwapCircle is only as strong as the families who participate. Joining takes just a moment — and every item shared helps another family.
About SwapCircles
Founded by Rashmi Prabhu, a parent, community volunteer, and environmentalist, SwapCircles began with a personal realization. After organizing clothing and toy swaps at schools and cultural groups, Rashmi saw how effortlessly families could support one another when given the right structural support.
Communities have plenty of resources; they need a bridge that makes sharing effective and easy for families.
As a solo female founder, Rashmi built SwapCircles from the ground up — intentionally designed for communities, not for algorithms. No social media dependency, no noise — just a thoughtful, accessible system that makes giving forward natural and joyful. It is now a growing recirculation initiative that families are looking to adopt.
Today, SwapCircles partners with schools, PTAs, and cultural groups to bring local circularity to life. The early access program is currently offered free of cost as we continue expanding and evolving to make this work for you.
